Word from the Pastor

Radical Stewardship

For us, this seminar seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up, because of all that is being covered.

Wendi and I are going to the Radical Stewardship Seminar this Sunday evening. Are you? For us, this seminar seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up, because of all that is being covered. The seminar is sponsored by Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, and they have been adapting and evolving it over the past 25 years.

I must admit to you that when I was asked to write about the seminar, I began to do some soul-percolating. Let me ask you a question, when I say the word, “Stewardship” what is the first thing that comes to your mind? For some it is just a “churchy word” or for others it is a leverage word. But in reality, it’s a surrender word, which keeps our life humble and in perspective, so that we can live the plans of the Father in our homes, work and church.

Psalms 24:1 says “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it”.

That’s it. Everything!  Including all that live on this earth (that’s me) “is the Lords.”  Stewardship begins with the acknowledgement that everything I have, everything I have accomplished and even the minutes of my life, come from Him and belong to Him. In Matthew 25 it was the owner of the gold that “gave” his gold to his servants to manage on his behalf. When the depth of my soul knows that “everything” is His and I only steward it by His principles for Him it frees me up from pride and control.

That is why Wendi and are going to the Radical Stewardship Seminar. We are going because we know we need to continually grow in stewarding the life and things that God shares with us. So, think about joining us this Sunday from 7 - 9pm at CLA.

The seminar focuses more specifically on financial stewardship and our preparation for when our earning power changes as we age. Some of the topics that will be covered are:

  • How to accomplish personal goals
  • How to eliminate debt
  • How to avoid common mistakes of financial planning
  • How to save and lower taxes

And much more. Only those attending the seminar will also have an opportunity to book an appointment to make a Will at no cost. Check out the link here for more information on the seminar.
