A child is a wonderful gift from God. Christian parents choosing to have a child dedicated at CLA must agree with and commit to the following:
I will raise this child for Jesus Christ. I will live for God. I will love my spouse. I will show love to my child. I will teach by example first, then by word. I will strive for consistency.
Child Dedication is Not Infant Baptism
Child dedication at CLA is a public declaration that Christian parents make before God and the church to raise their child in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). It is also representative of the church's commitment to bless and support the child and family. The simple dedication ceremony includes an element of blessing spoken over the child, but does not confirm salvation for the child.
Child/Baby Dedications
Dedications take place on "Family Sunday" which is the last Sunday of each month usually as part of the morning service, either 9 AM or 11 AM (subject to change).
Child/Baby Dedication Class
Parents dedicating their child at CLA are required to attend this 1 time class.
Class is only 1 & 1/2 hours long & takes place on the 2nd to last Sunday of each month (the Sunday before Child Dedications).

Commonly asked questions about Child Dedication
- What if my spouse is not a Christian?
If one parent is not a Christian, we encourge that parent to make a personal commitment to God before having the child dedicated. Otherwise, we kindly ask that only the Christian parent stand before the church and participate in the ceremony. Another option would be to request a private dedication with the pastor.
- Can common-law couples participate in child dedication at CLA?
One of the best gifts you can give your child is a solid, Christian, legal marriage. It is a symbol of your commitment to your spouse and dedication to your family. We encourage Christian parents who are married to have children dedicated.
1 Samuel 1:26-28 (NIV)
When God answered Hannah's prayer by giving her a son, she remembered her vow: "As surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD."
