ROMANIA | Spring 2009 

A team of six went to Romania to see for the first time two church plants that CLA has been supporting for more than a year. Eforie Sud is a small community on the Black Sea in the southern part of the country. The team taught at the School of Missions, was featured in a local radio broadcast, ministered to youth and children, and prayed for families attending this fledgling church. Pastor Gabi is a passionate young man providing leadership to this new church plant. Despite the challenges of renovating the place where they meet, the church is moving ahead.

Galati is a city east of Bucharest with a newly started, exciting church in the heart of it. The team ministered to youth, children and participated in a weekend outreach through a Sports Tournament. Pastor Nelu is a caring individual capable of growing this church. In both places that the team visited there were young men and women who gave their hearts to Jesus.

GUATEMALA

On December 4th a team from CLA travelled to Guatemala with this three fold assignment:

• hand out over 50 'Bags of Love' to the girls at Shadow of His Wings
  orphanage in Monjas
  
• meet with Guatemala AWANA national leader Luis Gilbert and hear about his ministry
  
• participate at the service at Mision Cristiana Renuevo
  church, Guatemala City

The team (Steve Nicholson, Ben Vermeulen, Dan and Sean Loney, Vince Laurino, Rick Fast, Scott Billows, and Peter and Jonathan Paluch) witnessed and experienced something everyone should have the opportunity to be part of. The church service was straight from the Book of Acts with a clear sense of God’s powerful presence.

At the orphanage, it was a great blessing to be able to give gifts to the girls. The team was also able to hear Luis’s incredible story of how God has been using AWANA in reaching thousands of Guatemala children with the gospel. The vision is to reach 50,000 of Guatemalan hildren!

MISSION TO EASTERN EUROPE

Eastern Europe is such a fascinating part of the world – beautiful geography and amazing history. For centuries this region of the world was an anchor of the global church but, in recent history, we have seen the people of Europe move away from God. Now, only a small percentage of these precious people know the blessing of the Holy Spirit. This is where you and I come in.
