Christian Life Assembly History

To trace our roots you have to go back a ways, back to a time when the landscape was more country than urban. Back to 1937, when two young women who, with simple faith and a God-given vision decided to open a "Free to All" Sunday School in a tiny building at the corner of Glover Road history 1961 church.jpgand Logan Ave.

The work flourished during those war-time years and in 1943 the fledgling Langley Pentecostal Church purchased the building and renovated it to accommodate more people.

By 1961, we had outgrown the facility, so property was purchased on the corner of 56 Ave. and Logan and a building erected that would seat 400.

Langley exterior.jpgThe next decade would see dramatic growth in Langley and corresponding growth in the church.  A vision for a much larger facility soon became reality when property at the current location was purchased from one of families who had pioneered the work.  In May 1978, the 400 members from the old facility on 56th settled into the new 1700 seat  auditorium.

The move to the current location marked a new era for the work, and a new name, Christian Life Assembly.  During the next five years, the church experienced phenomenal growth prompting the need for two morning serResource > MRcampusPhoto.jpg by: ssmithvices. The summer of 1998 saw the birth of Fire & Freedom services which continue today. In July 2002 the Maple Ridge church joined CLA, developing "One church with two campuses". June 2009 saw the much anticipated launch of the Coquitlam Campus.
