Church Is Like A Puzzle

If Parker Brothers were to publish their own Bible version, they might translate 1 Corinthians 12:12 this way: “The church is like a puzzle; it is made up of many pieces; and though all its pieces are many, they form one puzzle.” Whether you read this God-inspired verse through the lens of a human body or through the lens of a puzzle, the message remains the same: We were all uniquely SHAPEd by God to serve Him in God-ordained, unique ways.

Now, to those of you English scholars or literary editors, yes, I intentionally misspelled “SHAPEd” for a reason. To borrow from Rick Warren’s #1 New York Times Bestseller, The Purpose Driven Life, “Each of us was uniquely designed, or ‘shaped,’ to do certain things.” Warren, who is notorious for employing alliterations and acronyms in his writings and teachings, unpacks the acronym S.H.A.P.E. this way: Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience.

At CLA, we believe every believer is uniquely SHAPEd for a unique purpose. Like diverse puzzle pieces, you were SHAPEd differently than everyone else around you. Your SHAPE means your ‘fit’ as a volunteer in God’s church is decidedly different than everyone else’s also. Being uniquely SHAPEd, God is calling you to do what He alone has called you alone to do for His purposes.

So, dear church family, what are you going to do with your unique SHAPE and calling to serve God and others in and/or through CLA? Some may reason they simply don’t know where to begin; they don’t know yet how and where God has called them to serve. Fair enough. Let us help. We, at CLA, genuinely want to help you discover your unique SHAPE, as well as how and where God may be calling you to serve Him.

Last week in my message, I introduced ServeWire. This online tool was designed with you in mind. It can both help you discover your God-given SHAPE, and locate your God-ordained place to serve as a volunteer at CLA. Visit today, and take ServeWire for a test-drive. While ServeWire should take you less than 30 minutes to complete, the results may last more than your lifetime of serving Jesus; the results may bring about an extraordinary impact in the lives of others for all of eternity.
