A Word from Pastor Jenni
Hello CLA Family,
A whole year has passed by and Easter is just around the corner again. It might seem like this year hasn’t had much good news, but it has! God is still at work, equipping the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Today, I want to give honour where honour is due, to a special group of people for whom this year has had so many challenges: Parents!
Parents, you’ve taken on so many roles this year: parent, teacher, referee, sports coach, entertainer, counsellor and to top it all off you have become the greatest children’s pastors ever, and I couldn’t be prouder of you! Thank you to all those who have done their very best to make Sunday morning, bedtime, mealtime, drivetime and any time in between, an opportunity to pass on your faith! If you haven’t had a chance to watch our latest Sunday sermon series for children called, “Who Is Jesus?” you can catch up by going to www.clachurch.com/kids. This series culminates with the last week of Jesus’ life from Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection and the Road to Emmaus.
To tie in with our “Who Is Jesus?” series for families, this Easter we have another opportunity for you to engage your children. It’s Easter-in-a-box, called Countdown to Easter: The Ultimate Family Guide to Holy Week. It interacts with our online content of our “Who Is Jesus?” series and it’s filled with some great dinnertime fun, including baking unleavened bread and resurrection bread, surprising a neighbour with some Easter treats and throwing a Resurrection Party for your family on Easter Sunday.
The cost of one box is only $10, and you only need one box per family, focusing on children ages 2-12. Our parent guide is an easy-to-follow plan for your family to take a few minutes each day to examine the last week of Jesus’ life. In kids’ ministry we usually only have the opportunity to highlight Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday, so our kids miss some important stories that take place in between. So, plan to set aside some time each day during Holy Week to ponder Jesus’ sacrifice and how it changed our lives and eternity forever.
And we would love to hear your stories. What’s God been doing in and through your family? We’ve all been gifted more family time over this past year, and I believe that’s been one of God’s blessings to us within the storm of COVID. Your investment in your child’s spiritual journey, however big or small, is not wasted. You will reap a harvest if you do not give up!
