Finding Community Online

For the last several weeks, women’s ministry at CLA has been meeting over Zoom to study and discuss the Book of Ruth. What a beautiful and timely story for the season we are in. If you are not familiar with the Book of Ruth, it’s a true story in the Bible of two women Ruth and Naomi, who unexpectedly find themselves in a season of great loss and devastation after the deaths of their husbands. What we are learning, is that even in their hopelessness, God was right there with them—they didn’t see it then, but He had gone before them. He was working out the details of their lives in ways they could have never imagined. They had no idea that after a season of unexpected loss would come a season of unexpected blessing.

Last week over Zoom we talked about the unexpected blessings that God had given each of us at various times in our lives. There were so many stories—it was so encouraging. We talked about the ways He has been our provider, our protector, our comforter, and our counsellor. We shared how in this unexpected season He could use us to be a blessing to those around us. And then we prayed for one another. I thought about our time together after for a while. Like you, I never would have believed that we would be in a season where we couldn’t gather. At the beginning I felt an overwhelming sense of disappointment. I love our women’s gatherings. But, guess what? There have been truly beautiful moments and special opportunities through our online studies.

That’s why I am thrilled that we are able to do another study in the month of June. Details and registration are now online at clachurch.com/learning and we would absolutely love each and every woman who is able, to join us as we study on Wednesday mornings.

I am also so excited to announce that starting the first Wednesday evening in June! I will be hosting “The Tonnight Show” (get it? – "Tonn" night) live on our Facebook Page at 7:00 PM! Each week I will be interviewing different pastors at CLA and finding out a little bit more about them, their stories, and hearing what God has been doing in their lives. Then you will have the opportunity to send in your questions as well! I can’t wait! You don’t want to miss this fun evening together and we invite you to join us!

I sure miss seeing you all in person—but I am so thankful that we can still find community, encouragement, and most importantly, grow in our walk with God in this season. Make sure to visit our website for all the ways that you too can stay connected within our church family!

In His great Love,
Pastor Debbie Tonn
