The Global Leadership Summit was a win this week. A win for the Kingdom of God as bridges were built between The Church and the community, between people and Christian Organizations. It was a win for CLA leaders. It was a win for our staff. Because the volunteers did such an amazing job, our reputation as a place of hospitality was a win. Leadership starts with self-leadership, the event was beneficial for all who attended.
The GLS is an event held live in a Chicago Church in August. It is broadcast live to hundreds of sites in North America and then rebroadcast to over 600 sites. For Canadians, August is a tough time to have a leadership conference. Therefore, we rebroadcast it in October to 16 sites across the nation. CLA is one of the largest sites with over 400 registering, bolstered by 40 amazing volunteers. The GLS now circles the globe in 135 countries and 60 languages. The goal is to leverage influence. We all have influence. Through Christlike servanthood, loving kindness, and life long learning we make our families, church, work place and community better. I’ve heard from dozens in our CLA family affirming the benefit of these two days. If you or your organization missed this year’s Summit, make plans to join us in 2020.
For me, Pastor Craig Groeschel was both instructive and inspirational. I also really appreciated Patrick Lencioni as our Board uses his material for orientation and training. Many of the stories were challenging and filled me with hope. I was reminded of the power of a single life to make the world a better place. Each generation has so much to offer. I will share one of those stories with you this week as we launch our First Peter series.
It was a joy to host the event with Pastor Debbie. I sat beside Carson Pue. Carson brought some of his students to help us, I’m so grateful for that. Carson is renown as a teacher of leadership and mentor to the next generation. He has recently made CLA his home church, joining some of his family who are already here. This weekend we will hear from him about an upcoming one day event called Aging Matters. Check it out. Especially if you are a Boomer. This is a first step towards our new Mentorship stream in our Training Collective clachurch.com/trainingcollective.
