My mother in-law’s love language is gift giving. When our kids go to Grandma’s house, they know that most likely, they will be coming home with a gift!! I am not always on board with this to be honest, but my children for some reason, never seem to have a problem with it! They love their Grandma! When she gives them something, they feel cared for, they feel loved.
This Christmas, Recovery Church is once again doing a ‘Toy Give Away’ to the parents and grandparents who are connected to our church. Most of them have a challenging time paying rent and buying groceries. The thought of having to buy presents for their loved ones is overwhelming. This is one small way that we can be a blessing to them at Christmas time and show them that we care about them and their families. This Christmas we will be having a ‘Drive Thru Toy Give Away’ and are hoping to bless 100 families.
‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ Mathew 25:40
For years CLA’s Bus Ministry has brought encouragement to families in our communities with Christmas Stockings. This year Pastor Carl and his team are handing out 300 stockings to students at Douglas Park Elementary School and 300 children in complexes in Langley, Aldergrove, Cloverdale, and Willoughby. They were also able to send 80 stockings to Carcross in the Yukon, where there is such brokenness.
The pandemic has increased the difficulties of tough situations faced by these kids and parents. The simple delivery of a Christmas stock filled with toys, candy, gloves, and stuffed animals, brings hope and the love of Jesus to their lives. Matthew 5:16 says “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”. We want to be that light and example of godly love during difficulty. Any amount that you can give to the Recovery Toy Give Away or Bus Ministry Stockings will bless others. Thank you CLA for your incredible generosity! It is making a difference!!
