Missions Month really is one of the most wonderful times of the year. Not only do we get to hear stories of incredible projects happening around the world, but we also get to participate in the mission of God ourselves. CLA is a church on mission. We partner with more than 30 local and global ministries, we have people praying regularly for world needs, we send teams across the globe, and we invite you to consider how you might sow seeds of generosity into God’s Kingdom work.
There’s an old saying: “money talks.” This month, I want to give you one simple question to ponder: If money talks, what does your money say about you?
Does it say you’re holding on tightly?
Does it say you’re relying on its security?
Or does it say you’re a generous person who trusts God to provide as you give toward His purposes?
Throughout our Missions Month this February, you’ll have many opportunities to let your money “speak” some life‑giving words. As a church, we’re believing for $250,000 to support the James Project in Guatemala. CLA has partnered with this remarkable ministry for years—sending teams, resourcing programs, and standing with them as they bring hope, restoration, and new futures to some of the most vulnerable children and women in society. The James Project provides care, education, and holistic support so families can step into the future God intends for them.
So I want to encourage all of us—from the youngest to the oldest, from those with investment portfolios to those with only a couple of loonies in their pockets—to prayerfully consider how we might exercise both faith and generosity this month. Paul reminds us to think carefully about what we plan to give and to do it with a cheerful heart. Missions giving should never come from guilt or pressure, but from gratitude and a willingness to join God in what He is doing around the world.
I’m excited to see what God will do through us during Missions Month.
