Word From The Pastor

Rest For The Soul

And just like that: Her Retreat 2026 at Rockridge Canyon is a wrap.

What a weekend we had!

All the planning, preparing, strategizing, and fervent prayer for our time away has produced amazing fruit. We gathered 110 ladies from all our campuses for a powerful time of rest and community. This year’s theme, ‘BELONGING: Created for Connection,’ spoke deeply to us, as the guest speaker explored what it means to belong to God, to ourselves, to one another, and to humanity. We enjoyed deep moments of worship, made space for individual and corporate prayer, conversed in group settings, and created room for the breathtaking natural environment to replenish our souls.

Many women took advantage of the beautiful amenities, including the bikes, sports facilities, trails, outdoor heated pool, and the great weather that God graced us with. The special highlight was definitely the zip line on the premises – several of us decided to take the thrilling ride over the lake and pump some adrenaline into our bodies.

The true pinnacle of our retreat, however, was the community! Ladies truly delighted in relational connection, practicing the lessons of belonging with each other in real life. Conversations and prayers were springing up all over the place, all weekend long.

Another focal point took place on Saturday afternoon. Three ladies decided and asked to be baptized. So we gathered by the (heated!) pool, testified to why baptism was a significant step these ladies had chosen, and then shared an unforgettable moment in their lives and stories – as we stepped into the water and allowed this symbolic act to become a powerful anchor in their lives of following Jesus. The glorious backdrop of mountains, sunshine, and bald eagles flying above our heads will remain a core memory for all.

By Sunday morning, as we took communion together, most of us likely wanted to remain in this holy space longer. And even though we eventually had to pack our cars and say goodbye, it is my belief that each one of us was impacted and strengthened in a unique way by God’s Spirit. All of us carry many tasks and responsibilities on our shoulders each day; we face heartache and disappointment, and our lives are tested and challenged. It was therefore so refreshing to set aside a couple of days… to listen to God’s voice, enjoy the company of our sisters, and receive true rest for our whole being.

Debbie Boganes and I drove home filled with overwhelming gratitude. Witnessing the beauty of God’s creation alongside the powerful reality of our deep connections in Christ was simply remarkable. We are beyond grateful for the extended volunteer teams that generously assisted in making the retreat such a success. From donations toward scholarship funding, to each person lending a hand to help create the atmosphere of belonging and restful retreat, we value each individual who participated in the behind-the-scenes efforts of Her Retreat in this season.

God was extraordinarily glorified!
