Welcome to our 2026 Missions Emphasis Days! This is an important tradition at CLA. Jesus said just prior to his accession “in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Then he added, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Christian Life Assembly embraces this commissioning. We pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we ask for boldness, generosity and opportunities to be Christ’s witness. Over the next month we invite you to consider doing a few things to strengthen your prayers, knowledge of our partnerships and participation in our global mission.
- Attend the next four Sundays. Each week the worship, vignettes, interviews, and preaching are intended to ground us in our biblical mission and to grow our understanding of the James Project Latin America (our Guatemala partners).
- Prayer Card – take our new 2026 prayer card for missionary partners and projects, it will help you to pray regularly for those we support monthly. These friends are on the front lines of outreach and good deeds. They are making disciples, rescuing the marginalized and loving the least reached and most vulnerable. Our partners in the Fraser Valley, Canada and the world deeply appreciate your prayers.
- Give Generously – I’m hoping that everyone can give to CLA missions this month, every loonie counts. First, we need your support in our General Mission, this is the backbone of our whole outreach enterprise. Your monthly missions support helps us give “wind in the sails” of these important spiritual companions. In addition, we have a goal to raise $250,000 towards our Guatemala Ministry goal. You are going to hear exciting stories of life change with kids, orphans, young moms and young families. We will help the James Project build small homes on a protected compound for vulnerable single moms with their kids. This will protect them and allow their lives to flourish.
- Subscribe to our monthly newsletter called Beyond Our Walls. In this monthly email you’ll receive updates from our partners, stories from our short-term mission teams, a word of inspiration from Pastor Sheldon and photos that help us understand the work of our partners. This newsletter really helps us get to know our global workers and to pray for them with greater understanding. Subscribe here .
- Sponsor a Table – Attend our Missions Gala. On Saturday, February 21 we are hosting our first CLA Missions Gala. Tables are sponsored, table hosts are inviting people to come, you are encouraged to participate. We have tables of 10 or tables of 8 that need sponsors & hosts (tables for 10 are a thousand dollars, tables for 8 are eight hundred, they are not tax receipt-able). We have a few tickets and a short waiting list for people to attend. Come join us, about 250 people will be a part of this night of generosity. Go to the missions table in the foyer on Sunday to sign up!
