As we approach the exciting venture of our Rev youth short-term missions trip to Thailand, I am filled with immense gratitude for the way CLA has helped us fundraise over these last couple months. As a missions team we are grateful for the generosity of every member of CLA who has given to this trip! We are excited for the journey ahead and what God is going to do in and through every high school student.
From March 13 to the 28, 16 students, 4 parents and 2 Pastors will embark to Thailand in partnership with Zach Wylie and his organization, Imagine Thailand. Together, we will immerse ourselves in three profound initiatives aimed at building relationships and spreading the good news of Jesus!
Firstly, we will be partnering with the Lighthouse Learning Centre, a haven where young kids come to receive tutoring, engage in sports, and foster meaningful relationships. Through our volunteer efforts, we aim to help build relationships with these kids and offer our help in tutoring, playing sports, cleaning the center and being a blessing to the staff in any way we can.
Furthermore, we are blessed with the opportunity to impart knowledge and exchange cultural experiences as we teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at a Muslim elementary school. Over the course of three days, we will delve into diverse topics such as directions, Canadian food, and the human body, fostering understanding and relationships with these Muslim students.
Lastly, our journey will culminate in the organization and execution of a youth camp, where we will host over 30 Thai high school students. Through chapels, tribe games, and relationship building, we hope to cultivate a community of faith and fellowship that transcends borders and languages. The best part of this 3-day youth camp? Our students are personally responsible for helping to implement and execute this event. The students will be leading chapels and tribe games, and everything else in between. We hope this is a faith stretching opportunity for our students and we are confident that they are going to do an incredible job!
