Jesus is moving in a beautiful way in our moment.
Until Covid, the Barna research group had said that Christianity had reached an irreversible point of decline and that unless there was “a move of God” combined with “radical discipleship” the church in the West would not exist after a few more generations.
That is no longer the case.
God is on the move.
Across the world we are seeing an openness, a curiosity, and a hunger in Gen Z towards faith.
Reports of Gen Z attendance in church quadrupling from what they were a few years ago.
Bible sales soaring to record highs.
Gen Z is now the generation that attends church the most of any generation.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:1
Friends, there is an invitation from the Spirit of how we are going to respond in this moment.
Are we going to coast?
Are we going to keep the status quo?
Or are we going to lean in?
At the same time, there is this overwhelming need.
This need for Spiritual Fathers and Mothers.
That as sons and daughters are coming into the family, being adopted in the family of God for the first time (or are coming back to the family) they are in deep need of fathers and mothers in the faith to lead them on the journey.
Gen Z is struggling with a loneliness epidemic and to that the family of God fulfills the promise of Psalm 68 that “He sets the lonely in families”.
This is our call to sow into the next generation…
To show them the way.
To encourage them.
To correct them and challenge them.
To show them God’s compassion and mercy.
To teach them who Jesus is.
To show them how to pray.
Friends, with what God is doing in our time the invitation is for all of us.
The invitation is for you!
See, I am doing a new thing!
Do you not perceive it!
It’s time to lean in.
