Today I want to affirm the important place Recovery Church plays at Christian Life Assembly. For twenty years we have enthusiastically supported RC as a foundational building block for CLA. There are few ministries here that solicited as much applause, support, prayer, and financial sacrifice as this one. I am passionate about God’s preferred future for the ministry. I’m moved with compassion towards the broken, the marginalized and the addicted. The health and vitality of Recovery Church is a priority.
Second, I want to affirm the strength of the current team, both staff and volunteers. Pastor Doug Frederick leaves a very solid foundation. Although his departure is sad, I am so grateful for Sam Stanley, our Recovery Church ministry assistant. I’m impressed with volunteers who regularly rotate through areas of prayer, hospitality, altar ministry, tech, hosting services, Saturday outreach, and the preaching schedule. I’m grateful that Pastor Doug wants to continue to be on the preaching schedule. I’m thrilled with Garrett Cahoon’s openness to help. I’ve met with many from the team and each one pledges their ongoing commitment to the Fall routines and to help keep things steady. This is amazing. We will continue to build on the volunteer and servanthood culture. More people will step up and shoulder the burden of leadership with the guidance of the current leadership. God is equipping this amazing team and the Spirit will anoint it.
Third, I ask you to pray for CLA leadership as we build towards the future. Your prayers are invaluable. If you attend RC on Sunday evenings, volunteer, help with outreach or financially support this ministry, we need you. Please continue to help us. I’m thankful for the Spirit who is speaking through His gifts to the Church. Words of prophecy, encouragement, Scripture and ideas for the future have been beneficial for me to receive. Keep them coming.
Thank you for standing with us at this important time.
