Word from the Pastor

Together In Community

We believe life change happens in the context of relationships. For many young adults, meaningful relationships can be hard to find, and Connect Groups exist to make life-changing relationships relevant and accessible.

This fall has been incredible so far. Our Young Adult gatherings have been life-giving and spirit-filled. A burden for prayer has emerged and a hunger to truly know Christ and become like Him is evident.

In October we launched what we're calling Connect Groups and they have one, simple purpose; to bring people together in community. We believe life change happens in the context of relationships. For many young adults, meaningful relationships can be hard to find, and Connect Groups exist to make life-changing relationships relevant and accessible.

We had over 50 young adults sign up to join a Connect Group between our Langley and Maple Ridge campuses in 18 hours. How incredible is that? It's been amazing to hear stories of a growing sense of deep community and commonality taking place. Our Groups are unique, there's the freedom to express community around common interests, life stages or goals.

Currently, our Young Adult team is developing a set of video curricula in-house for our next semester of Connect Groups. Two book study series are in the works: one on the seven letters to the churches in Revelation, and one on Ephesians. Additionally, we are working on topical content such as how to walk with God through suffering and unanswered prayers. Even a series on why it's important to fight individualism and be in a community.

Why should we prioritize creating content for our Groups? There is one thing the pandemic taught us in that regard: it is one thing to watch a YouTube video of a Pastor or teacher in another country completely unassociated, but another to connect with, be inspired, and discipled within your local church connection. We are committed to making disciples; that is our ultimate calling. Content is everywhere, but we believe we can create something unique and tailored specifically for our Young Adults at CLA Langley and Maple Ridge that will help them become like Jesus, together.

Connect Groups will continue until December 8th, and then will relaunch in January. If you're 18-30ish, I would love to have you join us on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for a 7:30 pm for our gathering, and even more so, to join a Connect Group on the 2nd and 4th Thursday. Let us know if you're not sure where to start and we'll help connect you.
