We’re looking for a friendly and organized receptionist to be the welcoming face of CLA, serving staff, congregants, and guests. This role includes greeting visitors, managing calls and emails, providing clerical support, and maintaining a tidy, hospitable environment.

Job Purpose

To be the “face” of Christ & CLA by serving all staff, congregations, and outside groups through assisting in practical ways and creating a gracious, welcoming, and godly atmosphere.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receive and transfer all incoming calls, faxes, and emails (includes answering questions and addressing complaints) and maintain the phone voicemail message system.
  2. Greet and welcome all who walk through the CLA Centre doors and assist them as needed.
  3. Support ministries with clerical support such as:
    • Tracking current and upcoming church activities
    • Tracking staff absences, birthdays, etc.
    • Coordinating weekly office supply orders
    • Church database projects (e.g., first-time guest letters, baptism and child dedication certificates)
    • Handling all incoming and outgoing mail, including Canada Post, couriers, and deliveries
    • Assisting with mail-outs and other special projects
  4. Create and maintain a welcoming, tidy, and presentable workspace, ensuring necessary materials are accessible.
  5. Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience as a receptionist or in a related position
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy in all interactions
  • Quick learner with the ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs
  • Reasonable typing speed and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of reception or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training. Switchboard experience and business courses are considered an asset.
