Kids Camp 2026 – I SPY Mission Possible – registration is officially open! We’re excited to have your children attend and have a fabulous week. Please find the registration link here!
I am always intrigued by the stories in the gospels about parents who pursue Jesus with a specific request about their children. There are five stories if you don’t include the account of parents bringing children to Jesus for blessing. Four are about healing, but the other one is about something quite different. In Matthew 20:21, the mother of the disciples James and John, comes to Jesus and kneels before him asking: “In your Kingdom, please let my two sons sit in places of honor next to you, one on your right and the other on your left.”
I can picture this scene so clearly – moms are often single minded about their kids, wanting the very best for them. And in this case, at least initially, James and John’s mother wanted her sons to be close to Jesus. Did she overstep, were the motivations mixed up or a little misplaced – perhaps, yes. Jesus did, after all, turn the conversation toward what closeness to him meant in terms of sacrifice. In fact, he turned at that moment to James and John, pursuing their hearts with intention – and rightly so!
But I linger with their mom. Maybe because I’m a mom and I still want my children to be close to Jesus. I would still make any sacrifice so that could happen. As a pastor, thinking about my congregation of small but mighty disciples, I urge you, moms and dads, to give your kids an opportunity to get close to Jesus. One of the ways to make this happen is by sending them to Kids Camp. This year your child will learn along with characters like Joshua and Caleb about how God’s assignments are always mission-possible! They’ll sing songs and play games, make their own Spy Kit, meet new friends and get, most importantly, closer to Jesus.
We don’t want any child to miss out. Please contact us directly if the cost of camp is beyond your reach (kids@clachurch.com). And CLA family, in the coming days you’ll hear of opportunities to support camp. This is another way for us be a bridge of God’s blessing from one generation to the next!
It’s my joy to pastor the children and families of CLA,
